Privacy policy
Last updated 15 October 2026
StreetScout is a door-knocking tracker. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your rights under UK data protection law.
Who we are
StreetScout is run by its founder as a sole trader in Essex, England. We are the controller of your account information. Contact: support@streetscout.app.
What stays on your phone
The houses, businesses, names, phone numbers, notes and records you log in the app are stored on your device only. We cannot see them. You, not StreetScout, decide what to record about other people and are responsible for having a lawful basis to do so (for example the legitimate interest of following up an enquiry). The app has guides on this.
What we hold on our servers
- Your email address, so you can sign in and so we can send your sign-in codes and essential service emails.
- Subscription status and your Stripe customer reference. Card details go straight to Stripe and never touch our systems.
- Sign-in sessions (a secure cookie) so you stay signed in for up to 30 days.
- One cloud backup, only if you choose to save one. It contains whatever is in your app, including any names and numbers you logged, so you decide whether to use it. It is kept in our database, which Cloudflare encrypts at rest, and replaced each time you save.
Why we use it
To provide the service you asked for (contract), to keep it secure and prevent abuse (legitimate interests) and to meet tax and legal duties.
Who we share it with
- Cloudflare, which hosts the website, app and database.
- Stripe, which takes payments.
- Resend, which sends our emails.
- OpenStreetMap and Esri, whose map pictures and address look-ups the app requests directly from your phone. They see your approximate location when the map loads.
We do not sell your data and we do not run advertising or analytics trackers.
How long we keep it
Account details and any cloud backup are kept while your account is open and deleted straight away when you delete your account in Settings. Payment records are kept by Stripe and us for the period tax law requires.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, and object to how we use it. Deleting your account in the app does most of this instantly. Otherwise email us. You can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Cookies
We use one strictly necessary cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters we will tell you by email or in the app.
